Recently, new wayfinding totems were installed at the central station. Love it! Among the key updates:

I’d suggest adding a clear anti-glare layer on top of the screens, but first things first—the list below the map could really use some love. Here’s what’s not quite working:

  1. Repetitive A indices like Tram A, without much use.
  2. Random (instead of alphabetical) order of transport blocks.
  3. The legend carries as much visual weight as the transport information.
  4. Distracting alternation of stripes in the route blocks.
  5. Tight spacing, with inconsistent padding before route numbers.
  6. Cramped and unclear pictograms inside squares.

The positives:

  1. Language distinction through typeface.
  2. Relatively large font size.

Bringing everything together. At the moment, the metro symbol is visually confused with the zone indices. The service line Lijn / Bestemming looks overly prominent. Captions above icons and indices add no value and only clutter the layout.
